The New Year is Here!

New Year, New Name

Women for Gun Rights is excited to head full force into 2024 rebranded from our former name, the DC Project. Rest assured, our mission hasn’t changed. This new name reflects the growth and advancement of our goals. What began as a group of 50 women, one from each state, visiting Washington, D.C. once every year has grown into an invigorated group of thousands of fiery and passionate ladies.  These thousands of women are leading the charge for change in their own states and Washington D.C.

Creating a Counter Presence in Maine

Hundreds of gun control advocates showed up to the Maine State House on Wednesday calling for massive gun control measures. These pieces of legislation that they argue for include mandatory waiting periods and magazine capacity restrictions.

Although woefully outnumbered, Women for Gun Rights, led by State Director Andee Reardon, gathered to be a counter presence and voice the truth. Women for Gun Rights was joined by Destiny, a survivor of the Lewiston, Maine massacre, and her young daughter as well as many from Gun Owners of Maine. Destiny is pursuing safety by taking lessons under Andee, who is a local firearms instructor. They donned their teal t-shirts and grey hoodies featuring our signature “Educate Not Legislate” logo.

Reardon led conversations centering on mental health awareness, proper and unmandated safe storage, and the life-saving program “Hold My Guns”. Maine Wire prepared an article titled “Gun Control Advocates Flock to Main State House as Legislature Kicks off Second Session”. In this article, you can read about the threat that the anti-gun lobby showing up in droves poses to gun owners in Maine.

Making a Splash at SHOT Show

SHOT Show is coming up quickly. Women for Gun Rights will be present with members around the show floor. If you are interested in working with us, find a woman in teal.

Our ladies will also be present at the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) Governors Forum on Wednesday, January 24th from 1-2 PM and the Attorneys General Forum on the 24th from 4-5 PM. Register and join us as we make our presence known to these leaders who support the Second Amendment. It is crucial to let them know that they have allies!
